Taapsee made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam directed by Raghavendra Rao. Since then, she has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films such as Aadukalam, Vastadu Naa Raju and Mr. Perfect. Her Tamil film Aadukalam won six National Film Awards at the58th National Film Awards. She has also worked in a Malayalam film and has been signed on for three Telugu films and a Hindi film.
Now Taapsee Pannu got a chance to work with megastar Amitabh Bachchan in Annirudh Roychoudhury’s direction, eagerly awaited for Pink Movie and says it was an experience working with both for a lifetime.
“Of course. People will again see me in a new light. They will see a different side of me…’Pink’ will give a new shape to my career,” she says.
“The next morning my scene with him was luckily very simple. I had to lie on the couch sleeping while he spoke to someone behind me. I fidgeted so much, my eyes kept blinking…the easiest shot became the most difficult shot in the film,” she said.
“From the start, Shoojit Sir(Sircar) and my director Annirudh Roychoudhary were clear that my character would not shed a single tear no matter how much violation and humiliation she suffered. That she would keep it all pent up inside her right till the end. Even In the climactic courtroom scene when the Judge announces his verdict I was not allowed the comfort of tears,” she said.
The actress, who ventured into Bollywood from the southern film industry with the 2013 film “Chashme Baddoor”, says she doesn’t think “anyone particular film defines your career in Bollywood, it just gives it a new shape”.
