Looks like the long wait is over for the Tuticorin – Madurai Industrial Corridor that waited almost 7 long years to get its first industrial investment in the coming future as a group of Tamils from Malaysia who are closely associated with the the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) has planned of investing over Rs.200 crore for developing a world-class infrastructure for an Integrated Industrial Township to be established on 500 acres of land. This project will have engineering and electronic cluster to provide direct employment opportunities to 5,000 skilled and unskilled personnel, mostly from southern Tamil Nadu apart from housing world-class schools, hospitality and recreational facilities.
The Memorandum of Understanding for the Integrated Industrial Township is likely to be signed during the two-day Global Investors Meet (GIM) to commence in Chennai on Wednesday. The GOPIO has ambitious plans of taking the investment at this spot up to Rs. 2,500 crore in the years to come by ensuring excellent infrastructure on a par with any developed nation.
