Following the blockbuster success of their gangster drama Kabali, superstar Rajinikanth and director Pa Ranjith are once again collaborating for a Tamil film
While the much-awaited title of Rajinikanth’s 164th film has been announced by producer Dhanush, there is a little confusion as to whether the title is Kaala or Kaala Karikalan.
Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films is producing the film. Santhosh Narayanan will be the music director for the movie. The film will be released in Hindi and Telugu as well, going by the posters released by Dhanush on Twitter.
Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi has been paired opposite Thalaivar after Vidya Balan walked out of the project due to date issues.
Despite opening to mixed reviews from critics and fans, Kabali became the highest grossing Tamil film last year. And Rajini-Ranjith duo is likely to recreate the magic at the box office. To be produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, is touted to be a gangster drama made on the lines of Kabali. As per recent developments, Rajinikanth is expected to join the sets on May 28 in Mumbai.
“It is a film set in Mumbai and is a fictional story which is not based on any real people or events,” a statement from Wunderbar had previously said.
Based on news reports that said that the upcoming film would be based on the life of Haji Masthan, his foster son Sundar Shekar Mishra sent a notice to Rajinikanth a few days ago. Wunderbar Films, however, issued a statement clarifying that the movie is not based on the life of Haji Masthan.
