TV host turned Actress Shruthi Menon is getting ready to play female lead in an intense love story based on real life incidents. Shanavas K Bavakkutty a debutant film maker is taking this romantic story onto big screen with actor Aby‘s son Shane Nigam as Irfan and anchor-model Shruty Menon as Anita in the lead roles.
Talking about the plot of the film, Shanavas says, ‘Kismat is a romantic tragedy that happened in the lives of a 28-year-old scheduled caste girl and her 23-year-old boyfriend, a B Tech student, and it is inspired by an incident that I witnessed at Ponnani in 2011.’
While explaining the incident that moved him, ‘I met this couple when I went to a police station for an official work, a few years ago. The duo was there to request police support. As I knew the girl, I asked why they were there and they told me that both their families were against their relationship citing reasons like their age and caste,’
‘Being adults, they decided to stay separate as they can’t fight against their families for long time. But all that she heard about Irfan later was that he had committed suicide. Now the girl is working for Kerala State Literacy Mission in Ponnani. I feel guilty for not supporting them, and my movie is a small token of tribute to their love life,’ he added.

Shailaja Manikandan is bankrolling this project under Collective Phase One in association with Yes Movie Makers.
