Varun says, it’s NOT a ‘Kirpaan’ Jacqueline was wearing

After a huge drama that happened in order to get ‘Udta Punjab’ certified for theatrical release, we all thought another scene is going to happen when we heard Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) had expressed an objection about Jacqueline wearing a Kirpaan on a short dress and dancing around people in a song from upcoming film Dishoom.

Before it becomes a big mess, actor Varun Dhawan cleared all the queries and it totally makes sense. He said, ‘It’s not a kirpaan. It’s an Arabic sword which has been used and we must actually be having it, so we can show it. I am a Punjabi myself, and so is my brother (director Rohit Dhawan). So we would never do something like that. It’s a misunderstanding

The song was shot in Morocco. Jacqueline is dancing between some local dressed men and if you look at the song video carefully, she takes off the sword with a belt from one of the Arabic men around her and wears it. So, it is clearly not a Punjabi Kirpaan but is an Arabic Sword.

By the way, the song video has been released in YouTube today by T-series. Have a look.
