Actress Vidya Balan has been showered with praises for her feisty performance as a madam of a brothel, in the trailer of her upcoming film ‘Begum Jaan’.
The actress along with the film’s director Srijit Mukherji and producer were recently spotted at the Kolkata airport, a man came up to her and, without asking permission, tried to touch her hand and put his arm around her waist. “I told him don’t, but he put it again. My manager saw it and said please don’t and when I turned to pose for cameras he put his hand around my waist again the third time. I said listen don’t, what do you think you are doing? This is wrong. Then he said sorry can I have a selfie, I said no you can’t, behave yourself,” Vidya Balan told.
Speaking about the same to an online portal, the star explained that one tends to get uncomfortable when a man or woman intrudes into one’s personal space. According to the report, the Vidya admitted that she is a ‘public figure’, but also pointed out that she is “not public property”. Vidya Balan told.
Begum Jaan is an upcoming action-drama written and directed by National award winning director Srijit Mukherji and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, Vishesh Bhatt and Play Entertainment. The film is co-produced by Sakshi Bhatt and Shree Venkatesh Films with executive producer Kumkum Saigal. The cinematography is done by Gopi Bhagat. Lyrics, Additional screenplay and dialogues have been penned by Kausar Munir and Rahat Indori.
The film is scheduled for release on April 14, 2017.
Vidya Balan plays the lead role of a brothel’s madam, set in the backdrop of late Indian Independence period of 1947. It is the remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini.
