Vinod Khanna demise: Karan Johar and Rajamouli Cancel Baahubali 2 Premiere



Vinod Khanna {6 October 1946 – 27 April 2017} was an Indian actor and producer of Bollywood films. He was also an active politician. He was the sitting MP from Gurdaspur (between 1968 and 2013). He died on 27 April 2017 after battling with cancer.

After being hospitalized to Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital for a few weeks, Khanna passed away on the morning of April 27, 2017 and was said to be after a battle with cancer. Although the news about his deteriorating health in early 2017 started to spread, his family declined to disclose any information about his disease. In his last days, Khanna was surrounded by his children, family and wife Kavita.

Veteran actor Vinod Khanna’s death has sent shockwaves through the industry, and as a mark of respect, the premiere of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in Mumbai has been cancelled. The 70-year-old actor passed away this morning from bladder cancer.

Karan Johar, who is the distributor of the Hindi dubbed version of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, took to Twitter to make the announcement. He wrote, “As a mark of respect to our beloved Vinod Khanna the entire team of Baahubali has decided to cancel the premiere tonight…”

Directed by SS Rajamouli, Baahubali 2 takes the story forward from where Baahubali: The Beginning ended. Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan star in pivotal roles in this instalment of Baahubali 2. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 28 April 2017.
