It is a usual tradition that audience starts imagining the possible inspirations for every movie character. Since all these deliberate Skull sessions going on around ‘Udta Punjab’, the new discussion is that Tommy Singh which is the lead role of the upcoming ‘Udta Punjab’, which is played by Shahid Kapoor is taken from the life of rapper and musician Yo Yo Honey Singh. The fact that the film revolves around a Punjabi singer who becomes a drug addict and Honey Singh was absent from the industry and has been alleged as battling drug addiction. But how far is it true?
This is what Shahid Kapoor said about this comparison, ‘It is a very original character. Of course, we have all seen many stars who fall into the same category as Tommy Singh, people who have led brazen lives, and been addicts. But as far as Tommy is concerned, this is a not a silhouette that has been seen before’.
‘This is the craziest character I’ve played, and the only crazier character I have seen on screen is the Joker from The Dark Knight. The only difference is that the Joker seems to have no humanity, while Tommy is really just a kid who is lost in his addiction’, he added.
If everything is sorted out the film is slated to be released on 17th June 2016.
