There are few rumors that are in speculation about late. Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. About his behavior in shoot locations and his treatment towards his producers and co-actors. People who are been existing from that generation and people who follow and research about that era of films would know it.
People used to say that he never lent money to anyone, even if they are in deadly needs. When it comes to finance, he was very selfish and stingy. There was another rumor in speculation that he used to take towels and shoot properties to home from locations. Even many reputed film makers and actors did agree to this when asked. Thammareddy Chalapathi Rao, who has been an actor for over five decades and a close associate of NTR talked some unknown facts about him. He was in a reality-talk show for a famous news channel and said, ‘It is totally unfair to talk about him like that. He helped a lot of people and being a very close associate to him, I know it. There was a time when director K.V. Reddy who made classics like Mayabazar was in debts and struggling to send his son abroad for studies; he immediately gave him 60000 rupees. Later he even gave him a film to direct because
K.V.Reddy was very uncomfortable that he is unable to repay him the money. This is just one example that I know personally. He helped many other people financially and ethically without revealing his identity.’
He continued, ‘Coming to taking towels from Shoot, he used to consider the make-up that we wear is Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth). It is giving us food. He felt bad when he learnt that production people throw the towels away and stamp the ones that are lying on floor. That is why he made sure he carries the towels he used for wiping his make up to home and get them cleaned. Same with the shoot props. The Gadas and Ornaments will be thrown in warehouses after shoots. That is why he used to take them home and preserve it. Otherwise, why would he need it? They are made of fake gold.’
NTR’s Yamagola co-artist even praised him saying ’He was a gutsiest man I’ve ever seen. Both in real life and political. He have done what he believed will benefit the common people.’
