Pooja V Jadhav, 24, from Kalaburagi, was working in Babajob.com, a job portal whose office is located at the Prestige Obelisk building on Kasturba Road. Pooja, a resident of Byatarayanapura on Ballari Road, jumped from the same building. Her colleagues told police that Pooja was distraught after her colleague and boyfriend, Charan NB, died on Sunday. His bike was hit by a goods vehicle on Doddaballapur Road, near Yelahanka. Charan, a resident of JC Nagar, was headed to Devanahalli to meet a friend.
Pooja, who joined the placement firm in August this year and was staying with her sister, saw Charan’s body on Sunday morning.
“Around 2pm, she called me saying she wanted to talk to him,” Vasu, a colleague, said. Vasu consoled Pooja, saying that Charan is dead and she should move on. However, Pooja had other plans. She took the plunge around 2.20pm.
Security guard Akkung Pe gu said he heard a loud noise and saw Pooja’s body lying in a pool of blood. He alerted the others and called police. In a suicide note found in her trousers, Pooja had scribbled in English: “Mere ko maaf karo Pappa. Main Charan ke bina nahi reh sakti (Forgive me dad.I can’t live without Charan)”.
“We are saddened by the loss of one of our employees. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased and we are doing everything we can to support them,” said a statement from Babajob.com.
